PERMITTING
Alarm permits are required for residents or businesses to obtain prior to the installation of an alarm device. This ensures that alarms are known to the Police Department and assists them in better responding to a call when the alarm has been activated.
1. Building permits are required for many different projects and if you are not sure if you need one you can refer to the attachment below entitled “Work Requiring a Building Permit.” The building permit ensures that the construction adheres to the standards of the Uniform Construction Code. The purpose of these standards, and the permit, is to ensure that buildings in the Township are safe for use and to prevent property damage or harm to persons using these buildings.
2. Non-commercial building projects may submit a permit application to the Township office. The review of the application and inspection of the project will be performed the Township Building Code Official. For commercial buildings an application may be brought or mailed to the Township and will be reviewed by the commercial building inspector, LTL Consultants.

Driveway permits are required in order to construct a driveway that connects to a Township road, additionally any resurfacing that occurs at the connection of the street will need a Driveway Permit. This permit is to ensure that work done near a Township road does not impact the integrity of the road and the design accommodates storm water runoff.

Occupancy permits are required when selling or purchasing a home. The permit requires the proper placement of smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and reflective address markers on your property. The purpose of these permits is to ensure that these important alarms work properly and are placed in good locations, as well as to mark your home so that emergency responders are able to quickly locate your home.

Well permits are required when installing a new well on your property. The certification of well construction is also required to be completed by the installer. This permit and certification works to ensure that your well is being correctly installed and does not allow for contamination or leakage to occur.

Zoning permits are the basic permit, most new construction of any kind that is permitted under zoning requires a zoning permit. The projects could range from a shed in your backyard or a residential fence to a large commercial building. The purpose of a zoning permit is to ensure that new construction is compliant with the Township’s zoning ordinance, which works to preserve our community’s character and culture.
